Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. - 1 Corinthians 16:13

The Resolution for Men

“A man cannot be passive about what Scripture tells him to do for his family and expect to be found faithful to God in the end. He must see with spiritual eyes and realize that future generations are directly impacted by his daily decisions.” —The Resolution for Men
Beware of refusing to go to the funeral of your own independence. Oswald Chambers

A Deeper Repentance

Deeper Repentance from The Valley of Vision: Lord Jesus, give me a deeper repentance, a horror of sin, a dread of its approach. Help me chastely to flee it and jealously to resolve that my heart shall be Thine alone. Give me a deeper trust, that I may lose myself to find myself in Thee, the ground of my rest, the spring of my being. Give me a deeper knowledge of Thyself as saviour, master, lord, and king. Give me deeper power in private prayer, more sweetness in Thy Word, more steadfast grip on its truth. Give me deeper holiness in speech, thought, action, and let me not seek moral virtue apart from Thee. Plough deep in me, great Lord, heavenly husbandman, that my being may be a tilled field, the roots of grace spreading far and wide, until Thou alone art seen in me, Thy beauty golden like summer harvest, Thy fruitfulness as autumn plenty. I have no master but Thee, no law but Thy will, no delight but Thyself, no wealth but that Thou givest, no good but that Thou blessest, no peace but that Thou bestowest. I am nothing but that Thou makest me. I have nothing but that I receive from Thee. I can be nothing but that grace adorns me. Quarry me deep, dear Lord, and then fill me to overflowing with living water.

Resisting Temptation

Resisting Temptation To help keep from falling to temptation we should all memorize Scriptures that address areas of sins which are common temptations in our culture or age group “before” they become a problem for us. For example, certain sins are common in the teen years. Therefore parents and teachers should encourage memorization before young people face these temptations. Lust is an example of a new temptation that will hit young males especially hard in the adolescent years. Scriptures like Mat 5:28; Job 31:1; Psalm 101:3; & Proverbs 6:25; should be memorized by every male by age “12”. Sexual sin is a new temptation that strikes adolescents. All young people should therefore memorize Scriptures like 1 Cor 6:18-20; Prov 6:32; 1 Thes 4:3-5; and Eph 5:3. FBI Workbook

The Catholic Priest and the Baptist Boy

A worldly young Southern Baptist went to the racetrack for the very first time. He saw a priest in the paddock give a horse a blessing. The boy took the horse’s number, placed a small bet and sure enough the horse won. For the next several races, the boy went to the paddock, saw the priest bless a horse, placed a bet and won. On the last race of the day he repeated the routine and bet all his winnings on the anointed horse. Rounding the final turn the horse had a sizable lead, but then he suddenly dropped dead. The young man sought out the priest to complain. "That’s the trouble with you Baptists," said the priest. "You don’t know the difference between a simple blessing and the last rites." Anonymous

The Pastor and the Boy

A pastor was walking down his neighborhood street one day and was feeling down cause he didn't think people were getting his messages to help and visit the elderly. Then he noticed a little boy from his church trying to reach the knocker on an elderly woman's door. Excited that at least he had gotten the message he went to help him. He walked up on the porch and pounded the knocker on the door. Then he looked down at the little boy and asked what do we do now. The little boy looked up with suprise and yelled, "RUN!!!"
